Number of enterprises space agency plans to participate in the 7 th Framework Program for Research and Technological Development of the European Union (hereinafter - FP7) on topics of remote sensing.
FP7 - one of the largest programs in the world of research funding. It is financed from the general budget of the European Union. In FP7 adopted by 10 thematic priorities, including - space.
Since 2007 in the framework of the Russia-EU Dialogue in space "created and operated 7 thematic working groups, including the Joint Working Group on remote sensing (RS).
Co-Chairs of the Working Group on remote sensing are: on the side of Russia - Valery Zaichko, head of the targeted application of space-based surveillance systems and information receiving Federal Space Agency, the European side - Mikko Strahlendorf, Head Office of the European Commission Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry.
One of the tasks of the Working Group on the CRP is to assist in the implementation of the joint Russo-European research projects on the use of remote sensing data in the fields: forestry, monitoring of earthquake precursors, polar space research, agriculture. In March 2009 g. in accordance with the exchange of letters and the head of Federal Space Agency Director General of ESA developed a mechanism for exchanging data with remote sensing Russian and European spacecraft in order to implement joint projects.
In accordance with the provisions of the FP7 funding for joint projects on the use of remote sensing data in the above areas of cooperation in 2010 will implement the European side. Project participants will be selected through a tender in accordance with the mechanism developed by the European side (deadline for application is completed on Dec. 8, 2009).
Currently, the company in conjunction with other Federal Space Agency and Russia's European enterprises and organizations in accordance with applicant to participate in the tender are planning to work in the following joint projects:
"Assessment and monitoring of forest resources in the Dialogue EU-Russia cooperation in space. Artist - Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring OAO Russia's space systems;
"Exploring the possibilities of using Earth observation data for monitoring earthquake precursors. Artist - JSC "Russia's Space Systems;
"Development of modeling capabilities and surveillance for long-term study of the Arctic environment. Artist - Research Center for Earth Operative Monitoring OAO Russia's space systems.
